Lost City Angels
Hailing from cities throughout New England and hardened by their cold bitter streets, five friends put together a band that has taken the Boston music scene by storm. Embracing the same rootsy punk sensibilities that made legends of The Clash, Lost City Angels are intent on proving that complete dedication to your music is more important than marketing or promotion. Inspiration has been easy to find, from the punk tradition established by bands like The Stooges, The Buzzcocks, and X, all the way to current genre heroes like AFI. This band has banked its collective life on the idea that the most important thing musicians can do is play their instruments well, and play their music from the heart.
Singer Ron Ragona adopted this ethos from the first moment the band asked him to sing over the 8-track demos they had recorded in drummer Adam Shaw's apartment. Already teamed up with Adam at this point were guitarist Drew Indingaro and bassist Chris Duggan. With the addition of Ron and guitarist Nick Bacon, the lineup that would take Lost City Angels to national recognition was firmly established.
In September of 2001, Lost City Angels began compiling music for what would become their debut album. From the powerful opening chords of "First Things First" to the catchy sing-along choruses of "If You Go," there was no ignoring the fact that the band had developed a solid rock element missing in much of today's bubblegum and/or hardcore punk rock. Nate Albert, former guitarist and songwriter for The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, took notice and jumped at the chance to assume the role as producer. The band quickly entered the studio. When the result of these sessions found its way to the office of Southern California-based label Nitro Records, Lost City Angels were welcomed to the Nitro family with open arms.
Having made an unusually strong debut album, as well as having toured extensively in the good company of bands such as Social Distortion, The Living End, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and the many bands they have shared the stage with on various dates of the notorious Vans Warped Tour, Lost City Angels are poised to infect the planet with their unique mixture of punk fury and rock and roll power.
